“A Horn of Salvation”

Today’s reading from Luke 1:67-79 captures Zechariah’s Spirit-filled prophecy, praising God for His redemption through Jesus Christ. Zechariah speaks of the “horn of salvation,” a powerful symbol of God’s deliverance, and proclaims the mercy of God fulfilled in Jesus. This Savior would shine light into the darkness, offering peace and guiding His people into forgiveness and freedom.

Zechariah’s words remind us of God’s desire for a daily relationship with His people—not a distant or occasional connection but a life of abiding with Him in holiness and peace. As we reflect on this passage, we are invited to consider: Do we treat God as someone to seek only in times of need, or as our loving Father with whom we commune daily?

Take time today to reflect on how your life might change if you pursued daily communion with God. Pray for a renewed hunger to abide in His presence, and thank Him for the salvation and peace we have in Jesus.

What is Advent? It is the season of remembering and rejoicing. We remember Christ’s first coming as a baby born in Bethlehem and joyfully anticipate his second coming, when he will return to renew and redeem every part of the fallen creation. The Advent season is a time to reflect upon God's promises and anticipate their fulfillment.
