Bread has been sent for you. It meets a specific, desperate, current need you have. It has been divinely sent. It is life-saving, and more: life-giving. It was pictured long long ago in the MANNA of Moses. Now, we get the upgraded version.

God expects us to work. But at WHAT? What is the work that God requires?

People legitimately want to know and today they ask Jesus straight up, , “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?”

He answers in a way that is most unexpected. He tells them that A Christian’s MAIN WORK takes place between your ears, or at least within the borders of your SOUL—“This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

What will you do when you are on "the dark and stormy" sea of a spiritual situation? Well, it won't be your first spiritual day. It won't be your 'Groundhog Day.'

Of particular note in the story of the disciples watching Jesus walk on water is that they needed to be considering the lessons of the feeding of the 5000, when they were on the boat! The disciples find themselves in a boat, with a nod to Snoopy, "On a dark and stormy night." These guys didn't mean for it to be like this. They didn't start when it was dark, or stormy. In such an upheaval, Jesus shows up...walking on the water.

When do people call out to God? Frequently when they are wet, tired and afraid. Frequently, on dark and stormy nights...

When playing the game of make-believe, one often requires an ability, without which one will fail in the quest. The same is true in the spiritual life.

In the feeding of the 5000, Philip and Andrew are TESTED. (Don't be surprised at our testing in impossible circumstances.) Not everybody passes the test. One remembers and one forgets HIS SUPERPOWER. Andrew basically says, "My SUPERPOWER is that I have ACCESS to a super powerful Superpower.

Miracles are divine interruptions that help identify the activity of the divine. They give us opportunities to then respond to the divine moment. That is all good news. The bad news is that miracles always start with a PROBLEM.

The identification of this problem is the beginning of a miracle and sometimes the beginning of faith. We'd best lift up our eyes to see the Divine (Jesus) lifting up His eyes to notice and help us in our problems.

My actual physical Bible is my single favorite object on this earth. Absent what it reveals, specifically WHO it reveals, it is WORTHLESS. It is the OBJECT of the Scriptures, that give the Scriptures their VALUE.

As it turns out, the Scriptures are doing EXACTLY that: revealing God. So then, I can "love the pages" because of WHO the pages reveal.
