As long as I could remember, the basement door was always off-limits. My parents always warned me not to go near it, not to open it. They said there were dangerous things down there, things that I wasn't ready to see.
But as I grew older, curiosity got the best of me. One day, when my parents were out, I couldn't resist the urge to see what was behind that forbidden door. I crept down the stairs, my heart pounding in my chest, and reached out to turn the doorknob.
The door creaked open, revealing a dark and musty room below. As I cautiously stepped inside, my eyes fell upon a glowing ball floating in the center of the room. It shimmered and glowed, casting an ethereal light that illuminated the space around it.
I couldn't tear my eyes away from the ball, mesmerized by its beauty. But as I reached out to touch it, a searing pain shot through my hand. I recoiled in shock, only to see the ball begin to pulsate and grow brighter.
Suddenly, a voice echoed through the room, sending chills down my spine. "You were warned," it said, the words reverberating in my ears. And in a blinding flash of light, the ball exploded, sending me flying back through the basement door.
I lay there, dazed and confused, as my parents rushed in to find me. They helped me to my feet, their eyes filled with worry and disappointment. And as I looked back at the glowing ball in the sky, now fading into the distance, I realized the true meaning of their warnings.
Some things are better left unknown, and some doors are better left unopened.
