Sometimes money is in the eye of the beholder. When you share how much money you make others to filter you through that financial lens. Meaning because you make X amount of dollars these people have now become your financial advisor and tax consultant. They may not consider the lifestyle you have to maintain, expenses, and other obligations.

Look, I understand that people share their income for equity reasons. I'm all for collective growth and knowledge. All I'm saying is trust your gut feeling before disclosing your income. If you already overshared, no worries. The next time you feel that bubbling urge to burst out personal information trust the instant regret and embrassement you felt the last time you had mouth diarrhea (aka overshared).
