اقترب الشخصان من الجسد الملقى على الرمال الملتهبة، قام أحدهما بهزّه ليعلمَ اهو حيٌّ أم ميت وعندما أتته الإجابة على شكل انقطاع الأنفاس وزيغ البصر نظر إلى من بجواره وهزَّ رأسه في أسف وقال:
لقد مات ولم أسمع ما كان يقول، هل سمعته أنت؟
