Critic reviews

"The most important book of the year.... Here it is, laid bare: cartel as corporation, corporation as cartel; cocaine as pure capitalism.... Saviano realises the brutal truth: that to understand narco-traffic is to understand the modern world...it is revolutionary." (Ed Vulliamy, Observer)
"A dense, dazzling, dizzying narrative about the terrifying violence of the cocaine trade, but also the vast, unassailable reach of it." (Rose George, Independent)
"A tremendously gripping work of reportage." (Ian Thomson, Evening Standard)
"Italy's bravest investigative writer...must-read nonfiction." ( GQ)
"Impassioned, remarkable." (Misha Glenny, Financial Times)
"After reading Saviano, it becomes impossible to see Italy, and the global market, in the same way again." ( The New York Times)

If you read nothing else, ever, in your life; you need to read or listen to this one man. Never in my life, have I ever heard such intensity and integrity behind his words. Nothing short of outstanding.

This man is one in a billion billion.

Saviano is known for laying it on the line. This book is a testament to a man who believes we should try to understand the uncomfortable. Great content, affecting delivery, superb audiobook

This book is a fascinating look inside a business that breeds corruption and horror in many societies from the poor producers to the victims in the production cycle. Not a recommended read for anybody fighting addictions and Thier own demons.

Fascinating read into a hidden business world.

i really have to question the wisdom of employing a voice actor that can't pronuce Spanish names properly for this book

terrible performance

A collection of stories some interlinking, interesting and raw. Narrator is up and down, sometimes really good and other times just sounds like a wise guy. Good and factual.

Some review said this audiobook will change your life , only if you suffer from insomnia .

So dull beyond belief . Just about drug dealers in South America

Boring

This author writes beautifully. The problem is his memory for the drug war keeps activities safely away from the US and the UK. I suppose you can never give an honest account of the drug war and why it exists these days. Still, for anyone who knows who caused the entire decades-long war and who started the practice of state-sponsored subjugation with opium, you can only wince and be appalled that the worst offender of the conflict, America, gets zero condemnation.

Typical Drugs Came From Nowhere Nonsense

I tried to read this before. I fell away from it. After watching the TV show I came back and tried the audio book. I don’t know if it got lost in translation or what but its just such a hard listen. We don’t need to hear a 20 minute monologue on different nicknames for a drug. We don’t need the author to go through a list of everybody who uses drugs either. After the first couple of examples… we get it! This book doesn’t know if its a story or a newspaper article.

Could Be So Much More
