really enjoyed these. easy to listen to and great story line. not sure about some of the accents but soon get use to them. highly recommend the set

I have just finished and my primary emotion is a feeling of relief. I was unable to put this book down. There is a strong story line but more turns,twists and leaps than any other book I have read. I struggled at times with similarity of some of the names and the staccato format at the end

Non stop action! Book 4 really delivers… the first 3 books there’s a lot of character progression but book 4 is all out war. John’s writing strengths really show here as he excels in descriptive battle scenes and violence and this is exactly what book 4 is. Best in the series by far for me.

What a fantastic denoument to an amazing series.
Nobody writes battle scenes like John Gwynne. You feel like you're actually in them.
Be it the shield wall, a dual, a full on battle 100s or even 1000s of warriors. It's all here and all written to immersed you in what's happening.

Sad to finish it. These books have been amazing, definitely in my top 3, The Name of the Wind being No1.

storyline, characters, narrator all brilliant . I got through all 4 books 24hr each in about a month.

Ignore the first book!!! As that is quite honestly so slow and quite pointless.

Read the next 3…. They are one of the most amazing series I have read. If, like me, you adore war, battles, politics….. the highs and lows of scheming and manipulation. Then this is for you. I have been dragged through each and every awesome battle scene…. Willing each and every character to make it through. The loves, the laughs, the lows and the utter heartbreak made this final book an absolute beautiful finale!

The speaker became lazy. Started not doing the accent for characters like eg Lykos sometimes. Which broke immersion often. Especially during the action, where extra attention should have been paid to that kind of thing. It's very disappointing.
