About this listen
When supernatural secrets collide, it’ll take more than coffee to brew the perfect love.
When Ky Hernández bonded with his familiar, Zuri, his life changed forever. Their connection turned him into a practicing witch and led him to his calling as a medimagical professional. However, it totally tanked his love life - what guy would settle for eternal second place behind a parrot?
So, Ky keeps his witchy nature under wraps and sticks to hookups with humans, which can never go anywhere. But the mouthwatering barista at the coffee shop next door makes him thirst for more than a caffeine fix.
The charms Ewan Jones uses to appear human are inconvenient, disorienting, and necessary. Ewan and his siblings are achubyddion, metaphysical healers whose powers are coveted by unscrupulous supernatural beings.
And let’s face it: All supes are unscrupulous, given the right incentive. He’s grateful for the protections that hide his little family and for the barista job that keeps them housed and fed. He’s just so lonely. And his regular Ky, the super-hot, commitment-averse EMT, seems like the perfect candidate for a one-night shot at intimacy. After all, humans are no threat.
It takes a clumsy coffee shop intern, a mysterious werewolf epidemic, and one snarky parrot to unravel their pasts - and give them a chance at a future.
©2020 Ellen J. Russell (P)2021 Ellen J. RussellThis might be my first EJ Russell book, but it sure won't be my last. I adored the seriousness of the story that went along with the fun, flirty characters. It was witty and wry, very sweet, and very smartly written.
Definitely one worth picking up!

This book could be read/listened to as a standalone but to get the most out of it, you need to have at least read the Cutie and the beast, but I would read/listen to all of the books of this world if I were you.
The characters are as ever from this author, well rounded a little flawed but willing to learn from their mistakes. It was nice to see characters from all of the other series’ making appearances. Although the story was about Ky and Ewan, I did enjoy them as characters, my favourite is Jordan and I do hope he gets a book soon.
This is a book because it has a very interesting conflict at its heart and that is what made it so engaging. Greg Boudreaux does a great job. Overall a worthwhile experience if you like paranormal books/series with an ever expanding world.

Ewan is an achubyddion. I only found out what that was from the last series, Fae out of Water. A type of mythical healer. Ewan believes he and his siblings are the only ones left in the world so they must block their true nature. But a guy’s gotta make a living, so Ewan toils away in a coffee shop instead of healing like his soul is demanding he do. He’s naïve and inexperienced, but when Ky offers to show him the way things are between men, he’s game. Except when he discovers Ky’s true nature, he runs. Because supes and witches and all other creatures will destroy Ewan and his family – or so he believes.
Then one of his co-workers is injured and Ewan has to make a choice – save someone he cares about and risk discovery, or let the young one die.
Add to this chaos a virus taking out werewolves and things get very complicated. I got to see many of my old friends (Alan and David as well as Tanner and Chase) and meet some new ones as well. I got my happy ending and I hope there will eventually be more books in the series – hello, Jordan HAS to get a happy ending! I remember Jordan from the last book. The clumsy young werewolf who loves frisbees. It’s nice to see he’s making his way in the world, but he’s also a bit of a disaster.
Loved Greg Boudreaux’s narration. Loved the book. Can’t wait for more.

Witch Under Wraps is just as fun and engaging as all the previous books in the series. There is a lot of action, worldbuilding, and great character development. Ky is a witch who is a self-proclaimed commitment-phobe. He prefers his encounters to be string-free and easy going – it’s what works for him. However, when he meets Ewan, there’s just something about the handsome barista that Ky can’t shield against. Soon Ky finds himself attempting to help save the supernatural population from a mysterious illness while also untangling all the secrets that make up Ewan’s life. The romance in this book is a bit light, but the intensity in the relationship between Ewan and Ky makes up for that. There’s also some very sexy intimate scenes that definitely spiced up the pages. I really enjoyed the focus E.J. Russell put on the importance of relationships not only between Ewan and Ky but also with all their friends and family. Every book in this series just gets more and more fascinating, and I hope the author continues to write more in this universe.
