About this listen

The huge popularity of mindfulness in recent years has introduced many people to the benefits of paying purposeful attention to the present moment. In this book, Joey Weber argues that equanimity - the art of nonjudgement and compassion (for yourself and others) - can enhance the transformative potential of mindfulness.

The book brings equanimity to life with case studies, guided meditations, and practical tips, and is insightful for anyone, whether in tune with mindfulness or not, who wishes to expand their introspective tool kit and improve their mental health. The book sharpens its focus on how we can become less biased and more cohesive as a society and ultimately act more compassionately toward one another.

In a world of increasing inequality and divisiveness, it seems now, more than ever, we must practice looking inward in order to cool the outer flames of division.

I really appreciate this book, it's arrived at
a time in life where we the people are being called to investigate our unconscious bias and relationships with ourselves. This book highlights how the process of building equanimity into one's life can have far reaching positive outcomes.

I also found it helpful to have a more scientific perspective on this subject for those who are interested to learn more about meditation and mindful awareness but are put off by the stereotypes attached.

Naturally read by the author adding to the authenticity of the book.

I enjoyed listening and will listen a few more times to get greater insight.

I loved this book

The overall structure of the book was easily accessible for the reader or in my personal experience for the listener.

Equanimity is not a familiar word for the broader public or at least in my associations with Joe Bloggs so the understanding of the term with the use of mindfulness was definitely a new angle for me. The concept of unraveling the process of mindfulness is not as a badge but a way of life was highlighted through out the book. Ive been on courses where the practitioners used mindfulness but sadly the ignored the equanimity process.

The root foundation of any spiritual practice has to be coupled with compassion to benefit the self then the wider world. The Ego loves attention but not always the process. The book chapters emphasised this in awareness, non judgments, and discriminatory mind. Loved the idea in the chapter of the inner capitalist, I'm sure Karl Marx would of loved that chapter.

In conclusion my summary of the book is for those who want to travel on the road towards enlightenment for personal discovery and expand their perception of the role of compassion in humanity quest with Equanimity with a even mind.

P.S. This is my Ego talking I have read many books on meditation and practice it regularly, there are a few gems in the book so buy it..

I was so pleased when I discovered this audio book as I was looking to understand equanimity and it’s relationship to mindfulness. This book really brings real clarity around the subject. As an audio book Joey has a great way of addressing the audience both as a scientist and a practitioner of mindfulness. I found it that useful I am now going to buy the printed book.

Insightful extension to mindfulness

If you're looking to deepen your understanding of equanimity and its importance in mindfulness and self-compassion, this book is a great resource. Dr. Joey Weber provides an accessible explanation of the concept, emphasizing its role in preventing mindfulness from becoming self-centered. The practical tips and tools included in the book can help you become less rigid in your judgments and gain a better understanding of biases. I appreciated the secular approach, which makes the book accessible to all readers, regardless of religious beliefs. The real-life examples are thought-provoking and provide guidance on how to create positive interactions with oneself and others. Highly recommended for anyone interested in mindfulness, whether you're a practitioner or a teacher.
