About this listen
Blair Kendrick was just twelve years old when she stared into slate blue eyes and sensed that her world was about to change. She'd known down to her bones that the broody alpha cat shifter was her true mate. For the past six years, Luke has watched over and supported her. When she turns nineteen in a few months' time, he'll officially claim her and she'll then join his pride. Or that's the plan. Knowing her parents are extremely opposed to it, she isn't surprised when her mother attempts to derail it. But the recent discovery on her porch comes as a shock, forcing Blair to face that she's become the focus of a predator that lurks in the darkness and now intends to close in on her.
Not even the most ruthless of men are without a weakness. Luke Devereaux has only one: a fierce, lethal bush dog shifter who is also his mate. Before Blair, his mind was a place of endless blackness. She gave him purpose, peace, and balance. It's finally nearing the time he can make her his, and he's done playing nice with her interfering parents. But it turns out that they're the least of his problems, because Luke isn't the only one who has been watching and waiting for Blair to grow. There's another who believes he has a claim to her. Someone who has already shown he'll do anything to possess her. Even kill.
Contains mature themes.

When He's Ruthless
The is an excellent story of romance winning despite having so many family and friends doing their best to make sure it would not work. With stroking, kidnapping as well as others harassing, Blair is able to cope with them all despite her young age. Luke over comes his fear of falling back into the dark place he was living in until he found Blair. Terrific narration from Samantha Cook again, she brought the story alive.

More of the Same
If you have listened to the Phoenix Pack Mercury Pack and now Olympus Pride books you know what to expect and this follows the usual formula
Its OK and ticks the usual boxes - Feisty lass Possessive Male a bit of Jeopardy etc. Usual bedroom action though possibly a bit more restrained in this one. If you like these books this one is fine but no surprises - a bit like going back to an old comfort blanket.
Its not a bad book but lacks some of the magic of the early Phoenix books
Samantha Cook does her normal excellent job of narration

It’s ok
I like this author but this audiobook was not fantastic, it was boring at times and I had to forward it to skip the boring parts , I liked her other audiobook better

The power of 3 will NOT set you free
I’ve listened to a lot of Suzanne Wright books now and her penchant to say everything in 3s starts to get grating after a while. Every ‘descriptor, feeling, emotion’ (see what I did there? Lol) it’s always in 3 e..g. ‘She felt lost, isolated, broken’ etc when done repeatedly in every book throughout the book it becomes a not so pleasant thing you can’t not notice. After this many books the stories are also starting to feel like a variation on the same story sadly. The Phoenix & Mercury Pack stories weee definitely stronger

Ok. But more of the same
Unfortunately this book didn’t work for me and I can’t quite pin point why. I was very bored and increased the speed to get it over with faster. I really don’t like the narrator anymore and the characters’ behaviour and feel of the story is too similar to her other books, even if they are also different.
Maybe I would have liked it better if I just read the book instead of listening to it.
