What can a diseased brain tell us about being human, living our own lives better and helping those with dementia get the best from theirs?

When Wendy Mitchell was diagnosed with young-onset dementia at the age of fifty-eight, her brain was overwhelmed with images of the last stages of the disease — those familiar tropes, shortcuts and clichés that we are fed by the media, or even our own health professionals.

But her diagnosis far from represented the end of her life. Instead, it was the start of a very different one.

Wise, practical and life affirming, What I Wish People Knew About Dementia combines anecdotes, research and Wendy Mitchell’s own brilliant wit and wisdom to tell readers exactly what she wishes they knew about dementia.

What an inspiration ! I’ve listened to the first book before this one and I have nothing but admiration for Wendy. She has narrated both books beautifully, my only regret is that they weren’t available when my Dad was diagnosed with dementia, he died in 2013.
I would recommend these books to everyone to raise awareness and especially to nursing and caring staff.
I follow Wendy on her blog as well which is such a happy read.
THANK YOU Wendy 🤗

I wasn't sure about the narration by the author at first but it grew on me and it added an element of authenticity to the content. As Wendy says, everyone faces different challenges around dementia, but everyone will find something relevant and useful in this book which covers a variety of issues as well as taking some of the anxiety and negativity out of a difficult diagnosis. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain in ways that everyone can understand.

really really helpful and informativr
