About this listen

A new, grumpy-sunshine standalone novel from #1 New York Times Bestseller, Vi Keeland

When life took an unexpected turn, I decided to get out of New York for a while. What better place to go than the idyllic small town my father spoke about so fondly when I was growing up? Laurel Lake held the title America’s Friendliest Town for seventeen years running, and friendly was just what I needed right now.

Unfortunately, friendly wasn’t the welcome I got when I arrived.

Instead, I got Fox Cassidy. My tall, dark, and burly neighbor, who grunted at me instead of saying hello.

Okay, so I might’ve had his mailbox in my hands the first time we met. And it might’ve been a little crushed after removing it from under my tire. And I might’ve needed his help breaking into the place I was staying in after the key broke off in the lock. But still…he didn’t have to be so grumpy.

As time went on though, I started to notice things about Fox other than his glares. Like how he watched me when he thought I wasn’t looking, or how fire ignited in his eyes whenever we bickered. Though I was in Laurel Lake to escape my problems, not create new ones. And getting involved with a man like Fox screamed trouble, even if he was gorgeous and unlike any man I’d ever met.

But alas, problem seemed to be my middle name this year. So why not have some fun while I was here for the summer? It seemed like a good plan. At least until it was time to go home…

They say what happens at the lake, stays at the lake. But it’s not so easy to walk away when what stays behind…is your heart.

This is definitely one for my relisten collection! Wonderful writing by Vi Keeland, and the always amazing narration duo of Andi Ardnt & SebYo, made this an absolute joy of a listen ❤❤

I listened to almost the entire book with a huge smile on my face, laughing out loud so many times.
Overall, this is a very funny grumpy-sunshine RomCom, brilliantly written and narrated. The story also includes sensitive issues, such as mental health struggles, alcoholism & others I won't list so as not to create Spoilers, but the writing is so beautifully done, that nothing is either jarring, or feels made fun of, when it absolutely should not be.
I loved this story, Fox & Josie, and the colourful inhabitants of Laurel Lake so much. I would love there to be repeat visits to Laurel Lake, starting with Porter finding a woman to tame him! 😁

Absolutely Loved this Book ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Andi Arndt and Sebastian York narrating a Vi Keeland book is a classic combination of great dialogue with an engaging delivery - would recommend any day.

This is one that started off really good then by the end I didn’t want it to end . There are parts that’s hard to get through with mental health but all around really good

Friendliest town

This is a heartwarming story about second chances and the power of love. It also touches on really important subjects like mental health. Vi Keeland does it again!! Highly recommend!

Nothing much happens and it goes pretty much nowhere.

I was in the mood for something a bit light a breezy after reading/listening to a few heavy books, but this takes lightness to a whole new level! I like both Josie and Fox, but the slow burn is too slow, the small town is cliche. I was also irritated by the third act break up. I’ve read a few books recently where the author managed to write a romance without the third act break up and it was so refreshing. As usual this was contrived. It’s a quick listen so at least it wasn’t too stretched out.

Both narrators did a great job but the material was weak.

Ploddy
