About this listen
A little revenge never hurt anybody....
When a gambling debt puts him between a rock and a swim in the Hudson with concrete shoes, Smithy has no choice but to take the worst job imaginable. The gig - as prey in a leprechaun hunt for a bunch of Wall Street jerks - goes as badly as it sounds. He could leave it there and write it off as a harsh lesson learned, but 14 months later when Smithy comes up with a plan to take his revenge on the man behind it all, it is too good to resist.
What is it they say about best-laid plans? Instead of teaching his nemesis, Louis, a valuable lesson, Smithy ends up saving him from an assassin. From there, Smith and his friend Diller are dragged into his opponent’s messed-up world. Louis is part of "the Collectors", a group with way more money than sense dedicated to the competitive acquisition of truly one-of-a-kind items that define the secret history of the world.
When one of the group’s members loses his marbles, Smithy and Diller find themselves shanghaied to Nowhere. A well-named location in the middle of the desert, where a madman is trying to build an army from the worst of mankind.
Welcome to Nowhere is a wild ride from the author renowned for the darkly comic thrills of the Dublin Trilogy series and the McGarry Stateside books. It is a stand-alone novel that is a perfect introduction to McDonnell’s blend of comedy and compelling story that is earning him a growing legion of loyal fans.

Good fun but not as good as Bunny
I love listening to all of Caimh McDonnell's books and enjoyed the American based Bunny McGarry books as well, where Smithy and co make their first appearance.
This book was a good fun story to listen to but it just wasn't quite as good as the Bunny McGarry books, or those set in Ireland following Paul Mulchrone and co. I think if you're looking for an enjoyable listen this is a good shout but don't go in expecting it to be the same level as some of McDonnell's other books.

Another great storytelling adventure from McDonnelle
You’ll probably only really enjoy this book of you had already encountered these characters in the previous books. I definitely think that Caimh’s books should be read in order to get a full understanding of the characters and where they came from. I’m terms of story telling each book stands on its own, but in terms of characters it would help to know how they got here.
Anyway, this is one is as funny and fun as all the rest. Morgan C. Jones is a genius, his tone, pace and delivery is spot on.
I love these books so much and must look mad when walking about listening to them laughing out loud to myself.

I love these characters!
I loved it! Having listened to all the Bunny stories, i thought I would try this spin-off although I wasnt expecting to enjoy it as much as Bunny. I was wrong! This is a another brilliant book from this author. Smithy is one of my favourite fictional characters.
The narrator is fabulous and is able to give each character their own voice. I love Smithy 's voice.
Hope there is another book soon

Lunatic fun
What a wild ride. I love how no matter how preposterous the plots, McDonald managed to make me cheer on the protagonists with all my heart. I have a crush on Smithy.

No Bunny but still a blast
Smithy and Diller fully deserve this adventure of their own, brought about by pure boneheadedness, kindness and good intentions and the horrendous kind of bad luck that means you end up sitting next to the serial killer on the bus just when he feels the need to explain his motivations to someone. Darker than it seems but hilarious.

Ruined by the narration
I really struggled to get into this story. The narration made it so boring and killed any amusing bits with the flat delivery.
I kept going because I really didn't want to return it and eventually found that the story was actually ok, it was Morgan C. Jones that was the problem. His tone is good, but the way he read the text was really dull

Love these characters
I’m a huge Caimh McDonnell fan, but wasn’t sure whether Smithy and Diller would be “enough” to hang the book on without Bunny. But I am so happy to say that fear was unfounded. Absolutely loved this book and the narration is perfect.
