Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius. Warlock Holmes is an idiot. A font of arcane power, certainly. But he's brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn't deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only thing he has really got going for him are the might of 1,000 demons and his stalwart companion.

A truly amazing reimagining of the traditional Sherlock Holmes in a fantasy London. It is absolutely amazing and I enjoyed this so much more that I ever thought I would, could not recommend this high enough to anyone who likes fantasy or Sherlock Holmes, if it is both you should have already read it.

This is a fun twist on the classic Holmes, Watson & Moriarti relations, by bringing the comic supernatural and building an alternative universe the author crafted some interesting stories. The performance is superb with each character, major or minor, being given a distinct voice that adds up to their personality.

The book itself was fine - a little light entertainment with a supernatural nod to Sherlock Holmes. I disliked the narrator. His pronunciation wasn't good, I wasn't mad about his interpretations of the characters, but the most irritating thing for me was the pauses - random pauses in sentences, between paragraphs and so on - that I feel ought to have been edited out. The result was that the narration didn't flow well for me, which is a shame as I am sure that I missed a few interesting parts thanks to being distracted by the narration.

This book is a spoof of some of the Holmes stories. What if Sherlock Holmes was actually a dimwitted warlock? It's in some places maybe a tad too silly, but it's well written and well read. There were some genuine funny parts and I thought it was pretty orignal. It does take a lot of imagination to follow it all though!

I love the Sherlock Holmes books and thought this would be a fun book, it didn't disappoint but it wasn't as different as I expected. I would definitely read it again though.

Spotted this in the sale, and as I tend to favour titles in mysteries, comedies and supernatural genres (and who doesn't like Sherlock Holmes), I thought it was worth a go.
I loved it's cheeky writing style, fun plot and characters and was forced to purchase the rest of the series. Warlock becomes more and more endearing as the books continue and his voicing is wonderful

I love urban fantasy and Sherlock but this didn't work for me.

The police.
