About this listen

When Hubert Larnaudie invites some fellow residents of his Parisian apartment building to drink an exceptional bottle of 1954 Beaujolais, he has no idea of its special properties.

The following morning, Hubert finds himself waking up in 1950s Paris, as do antique restorer Magalie, mixologist Julien, and Airbnb tenant Bob from Milwaukee, who's on his first trip to Europe. After their initial shock, the city of Edith Piaf and An American in Paris begins to work its charm on them.

The four delight in getting to know the French capital during this iconic period whilst also playing with the possibilities that time travel allows. But, ultimately, they need to work out how to get back to 2017, and time is of the essence....

excellent story telling

I love time travel stories so this was brilliant for me, a great listen, and with historical detail.

A charming feel good novel

A charming novel that makes you feel all is well in the world (we all need that)
What I enjoyed was it is set in fairly recent history. 1954 only 10 years before I was born. I always thought my grandparents and seen such a huge change in the world in their life times but you know so have I.
This novel reminds you to slow down and smell the coffee.

gentle and quirky

I enjoyed this and will probably listen again, a real fairy story.

the translation wasn't the best, and I found the narration a bit wishy washy, but despite this well worth a listen.

A most magical book.

Not only a fascinating premise, but a most uplifting storyline. It really was one of the best and most original books that I've 'read' in years.

Always a joy

A charming, tongue in cheek tale with that expert yet gentle touch of the master. I enjoy the play of humour, romance and wonderful characters all showcased with vivid imagination. The book leaves one in a good mood and a touch uplifted too. Lovely read.

dull

a full uninteresting story with lacklustre characters- dragged my way through it falling asleep from boredom- silly plot line that doesn’t matter didn’t bother finishing it and the narration became irritating by the end as it reflected the weakness of the characters in its wishy washy tone - not for me!
