Leutnant Wenks Gebirgsjägerdivision soll zügig den Kaukasus Richtung Schwarzmeerküste überqueren. Doch bereits der Hinweg wird zur Tortur. Neben ständiger Feindesnähe und fehlendem Nachschub an Truppen und Nahrungsmitteln, drohen Schnee und Eis das Vorhaben zu gefährden.
