About this listen
"Fear the living, fear the dead, fear the Unspeakable."
Kenning Hall was more than a country home, it was the family's sanctuary away from the frenetic pace of London, until that day.
What happened that day was so horrifying, so devastating, that the place was left to ruin, until now.
A decade later, 32-year-old Rupert Harrison, the only surviving heir to the Harrison publishing dynasty, has ordered Kenning Hall restored to its former glory.
It's time to go back.
Now, if you think you've heard this story before, think again. This is just the beginning.
Something is waiting at Kenning Hall. Something vengeful, malevolent, and it will follow him home.
This book isn't creepy, it's downright terrifying. Be warned: Daylight will not save you.

Would you consider the audio edition of Unspeakable to be better than the print version?
I found the print version to be a thoroughly enjoyable read, one which I easily gobbled up on my lunch breaks at work. But when I found the audio version to be available, I knew I had a to give it a try, and sure enough my experience was intensified, a classic supernatural thrill! What other book might you compare Unspeakable to, and why?
I can't, off the top of my head, think of any books that run close to this one, however I will say I can perfectly envision this to be a film. It is a unique and refreshing mix of stories and lives, accompanied by suspense and terror, that made it such a great read and listen!Have you listened to any of Matt Addis’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I haven't as yet, but you can be sure I will certainly be looking out for his other works. He has that measured tone and execution that makes him so easy to listen to!Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me frustrated, it made me curious, it even took my breath away - there is a particularly chilling scene (one I don't want to give away) which filled me with a sense of dread. I went through a whole spectrum!Listener's delight...or should that be...defright.

Narrative though, was brilliant by Matt Addis- he did an amazing job!
Exciting in p!aces, but...

I'm afraid to say the narration left me cringing. The characters were given different voices, eg, the main character Rupert was portrayed as having an educated, Oxbridge accent, but then he would come in again with a broad dialect. It was annoying. Now comes the worst part. The voices of women must be challenging for male narrators to perform, but add in crying and wailing! Omg, this was painful. The narrtor has a great voice but he should leave the crying out.
OK, what to say

Where does Unspeakable rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It came as no surprise to me, considering I loved reading this book, that the audiobook would automatically rise to the top of my most loved audiobooks. Sometimes a book can be slightly ruined by transitioning into audio format, whether that be due to the narrator or quality, but Unspeakable certainly was /not/ one of those books. It enhanced the atmosphere already present in the story, and brought every goosebump and hitch of breath to life, I loved every single second! What other book might you compare Unspeakable to, and why?
Though it it can be compared to a twisted Sherlock in its eerie mysteries, or a Dan Brown book with the quick pacing and unfolding of event after event, I can definitely say that Mr Marturano's Unspeakable is an individual star. What about Matt Addis’s performance did you like?
As previously mentioned, I have read this book before. So Matt played a great part in rekindling my love for this book. Hearing it aloud emphasised the true mystery and fear in every chapter. The carefully measured and nuanced narration created moments that built the tension sky high, only to shatter your nerves when the tension was broken, and then - in quieter parts - he kept me hanging on every word, wanting more and more. A perfect execution of how I imagined the audiobook to be.Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Those who know me know that I have a very strong sense of wanting to justice for people, so when certain characters got the "justice" and peace that they needed, so to speak, I was definitely cheering out loud. And I'm notoriously a scaredy cat who can't stay away from things that freak me out, so it definitely gave me those fearful watery eyes and had me expressing a few expletives at the scarier bits!Any additional comments?
If only this would now become a film or tv series, I'd be very pleased! Thank you to Mr Marturano and Matt for creating such a fantastic piece, an especially enjoyable audiobook in October!Creeptastic!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would without a doubt, it's perfect for curling up on a grey day and feeling the shivers creep up on you. What other book might you compare Unspeakable to, and why?
I think I would compare it to something like The Ghost by Robert Harris. Though different in genre, Unspeakable is also full of mystery and sinister twists throughout.Which character – as performed by Matt Addis – was your favourite?
I would say Elizabeth is best performed, her shrill, cruel and capricious nature is truly captured under Matt's performance. If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
"Don't look back."Eeriness to the max :O
