About this listen
The psychologist with a troubled past...
Dr. Christopher Kellan spends his days at Loveland Psychiatric Hospital, overseeing a unit known as Alpha Twelve, home to the most deranged and psychotic killers imaginable. His newest patient, Donny Ray Smith, is accused of murdering ten young girls and making their bodies disappear. But during his first encounter with Donny, Christopher finds something else unsettling: the man looks familiar.
The killer with a secret...
Donny Ray knows things about Christopher - things he couldn't have possibly learned at Loveland. As the psychologist delves deeper into the mysterious patient's case, Christopher's life whirls out of control. The contours of his mind are rapidly losing shape, and his grasp on reality is slipping even faster. Is he going mad, or is that what Donny Ray wants him to think?
The terror that binds them...
In this taut psychological thriller from Andrew E. Kaufman, best-selling author of The Lion, the Lamb, the Hunted, a tormented man must face his fear and enter the mind of a killer to find the truth...even if it costs him his sanity.
©2015 Andrew E. Kaufman (P)2015 Brilliance Audio, all rights reserved. The story flowed well and without spoiling the plot, even the parts that jumped in and out were well thought out and well written. The method used throughout the book to describe the protagonist's journey were fascinating and massively heart wrenching/scary.
Performance was very good, however a few places felt a bit lacking, but I'm being picky.
What a 'twister' of a plot! Kudos to Kaufman!

Not as expected, but ok in it's own way....

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A different narrator who did better impersonations and voices such as Kate Mulgrew, Michael Carman or Will Patton. That's as far as the narrator goes anyway. What could Andrew E. Kaufman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not use ridiculous similies "it was like swimming through crocheted sweaters" and that actually isn't the worst of them. This book is only worth listening to if in doing so you teach kids not to write like this. What didn’t you like about Phil Gigante’s performance?
Monotone deep voice initially, high pitched impersonation of females sounded like a comedian's impression. Very lack lustre and just made an awful book worse! If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Twisted?
Scenes when he speaks to his child, we understand he loves him that's apparent first off but the indulgent conversations he has with him later on in the book simply aren't justified. This guy starts off talking to a "six/seven" year old in language you would deem appropriate, by the end the kid is responding like an adult in order to progress the story. It's just ridiculous.Any additional comments?
I was so disappointed by this book, I thought it sounded awesome and it had rave reviews on goodreads (which has now gone in the favourites bin!) it's not twisty if you are used to dealing with surprise endings books and films. TBH it's seven hours of "oh i wonder if he is insane" followed by a remainder of "i've lost the will to live, i don't care if i am right or not" I will not put spoilers on here but I am just saying this is a guaranteed returned credit bookIf you're reading this run for the hills!
