About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Discover the first novel in the gripping Will Trent series, from the
Sunday Times bestselling crime and thriller author.

Now a major TV Series on Disney+

When Atlanta police detective Michael Ormewood is called out to a murder scene, he finds himself faced with one of the most brutal murders of his career.

As a one-off killing it is shocking, but it soon becomes clear Aleesha Monroe is just the latest victim in a series of similar attacks.

Twenty-four hours later, the violence Michael sees every day explodes in his own back yard.

And it seems the mystery surrounding Monroe's death is inextricably entangled with a past that refuses to stay buried...

Well read, less well developed

The narrator does a great job, but cannot quite make up for a storyline that starts very well, holds up for the first third but then does not deliver on the initial promise. The Will / Faith relationship has really deep possibilities yet just when it could be exploited and mined it gets very superficial and shallow. Shall I read the next in rhe series ? Jury is out .

Listen to this as I have been watching the show

Thought I would give these books a try after watching the show. I like a few more conclusions for all involved rather than just an ending but it was an enjoyable listen.

Story ok

It was an ok story albeit predictable. I didn’t enjoy the performance. It was a bit broken, too many pauses.

Love it

Great story although I wish it was the full novel and not a shortened version. Would still recommend. Love all Karin Slaughter books. Great series

1st time listening

loved it. The narrator's voice didn't at any point irritate me like some. It's a good read whether you listen or physically read the book.

First of many I reckon

Really enjoyed the story and excellent narrator. This was my first Karin Slaughter and definitely not my last.
