Daraufhin schickt Gott einen himmlischen Boten, einen Engel, der Josef im Traum rät, mit Frau und Kind nach Ägypten zu fliehen.

Viele Träume, die in der Bibel erzählt werden, sind von Sorgen, Ängsten und Sehnsüchten der Menschen geprägt. "Im Traum zeigt uns Gott oft, was eigentlich bei uns dran ist", meint dazu der Benediktinermönch Anselm Grün. Ein Traum könne Orientierung geben und eine Quelle der Selbsterkenntnis sein.
