About this listen

In 2016, Debbie Hayton underwent gender reassignment surgery. Fast forward to today, and Hayton's refusal to validate the standard gender identity orthodoxy has led to excommunication by the trans activist community. What happened?

Transsexual Apostate weaves an intimate account of Debbie's story into a forensic critique of trans ideology. Focussing mainly on transwomen, she examines the reality of male autogynephilia and argues that the vast majority of transwomen are men with a psychological disorder that needs to be managed compassionately. Trans activists should give up their quasi-religious claims and cynical power plays and acknowledge the legitimate issues that many have with their agenda.

Hayton's honest, humane book shows that accepting reality will allow transwomen to live their best lives based on the truth of who they are, rather than the fantasy of who they are not.

Honest and intelligent

I liked the perspective, the intelligence, the clear thinking and the compassion of Debbie Hayton. A valuable contribution to the way-too-toxic gender debate. I also really liked the epilogue by Debbie’s spouse of 30 years. Much respect to both of them.

Sensitive and Informative

I didn't know what to expect from this book but I have seen Debbie in several interviews and debates on social media and have heard her interesting views on transsexuality, I was curious to hear her personal story. First of all I think she must be an amazing teacher, she uses every day language and her own words (not some extracts from obscure theories) to give a well balanced overview of such complex and sometimes toxic issues that I for one have been too scared to comment on. I ended up listening to the whole book in one day, it truly was easy listening. I admire Debbie enormously, she has a sense of calm and writes with empathy and compassion about her difficult journey. In some ways I felt as if I had listened to a love story and was very near to tears but it was the closing chapter from her wife Stephanie that actually tipped me over the edge, it's not a sentimental book at all but it is moving.

a fascinating perspective

I listened all the way through in one sitting and found Debbie clear and engaging and found Stephanie's contribution really poignant.
It's sad to see how the supposed LGBTQ+ 'inclusivity' champions bully and exclude people for diversity of thought and belief. I admire Debbie for having the fortitude to get this published and hope it leads to many more people to engage with a fuller range of possible responses to gender non conformity.
