About this listen

He tried to take my life. Instead I took his.

It happened so long ago, I've forgotten the details. But he was desperate, hungry enough to kill. As I was dying, my hand touched his. That's when my first switch took place.

I looked through the eyes of my killer just in time to see my own body die.

Now switching is easy. I can jump from body to body, have any life, be anyone. All it takes is a touch.

Would you listen to Touch again? Why?

Absolutely. The story has so much going on and is so breathless that a second listen/read would allow me to unravel certain threads.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kepler.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

All the scenes with Kepler and Coyle in dialogue.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I had an emotional reaction. I felt so sad for Kepler, unable to settle, unable to make human connections that last.

Any additional comments?

Claire North is an exceptional writer. Harry August was wonderful and Touch is equally brilliant.

Another winner from Claire North

If you enjoyed “The first fifteen lives of Harry August” you might be tempted by this, don’t!
it reads like a bad cover version of the former.
Excellent narration by Peter Kenny can’t rescue it.

Not as good as her first

What an amazing book, so imaginative, gripping and truly excellent performance from the narrator. Highly recommended, just as I would also recommend the First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.

Stunning

Would you try another book written by Claire North or narrated by Peter Kenny?

I wouldn't read another Claire North, but have no problems with Peter Kenny's narration

Would you recommend Touch to your friends? Why or why not?

No. I very nearly gave up on this book: something I rarely do. It improved in the middle but I was pleased to reach the end and found I didn't care much about what actually happened.

What does Peter Kenny bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He is a competent narrator but not the best.

Could you see Touch being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

It would be possible and might be quite effective if it was in a much simplified form.

Any additional comments?

The concept of 'ghosts' and ' skins' I found interesting and the author had done well with consistency and accuracy in developing her theme. I thought the structure was OK but the overall plot was hard going and often dull or disjointed.

Hard going at times

Brilliant follow on from Fifteen lives'.

Again Claire North's thinking outside the box takes us in a ride that we haven't ridden before. A very deep look into an alternate way of being when different rules apply.

Highly recommend this book. :0)

Friendly poltergeists

This is “ Claire North” at her very best , inventive , globe trotting and rarely letting up on the tension . Ms North manages to keep her politics out of this and it’s hugely better for it ( “William Abbey “ reads like a left wing university group hug at times ) Some of the interplay ( the main character can jump into other people’s bodies ) is fascinating, it’s well written with excellent narration

Excellent ,gripping ,great premise

The story is very similar in its general ideas and scope as her first book, which was excellent. However here the lack of truly new ideas and plot left me a little disappointed.

Narrator Peter Kenny was brilliant as ever. Outranks every other narrator I've heard on Audible by miles.

Not as good as her last

Loved it as it held you throughout wondering who would be next and how it must be to live without an end to your life. Reviting and I would advise anyone to listen to this wonderful and exciting book

A really interesting listen- I loved it but it's one you have to really focus on as the character jumps from body to body as do the other 'ghosts' so keeping track of who is speaking to whom takes a bit of concentration. The narration really helps with this- a brilliant perfornance, as usual. Definitely worth a listen.

A really good listen

Fabulous; fast-moving and intricately plotted, this one keeps you on your toes as your mind races to keep up with the myriad characters. Really excellent IMO, very well performed by Peter Kenny. Don't hesitate, it will leave you breathless!

Maybe even better than "Harry August"...
