About this listen
Are shadows of a past fueled by hate becoming the dark echoes of his future?
WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO SEE? When a woman’s body is discovered posed in a grotesque tableau, DI Mike Stone knows he is not looking at a textbook crime of passion or circumstance.
HOW FAR WILL YOU HAVE TO GO? Everything about the scene says it is only the brutal beginning of a killer’s dark story about to stampede its way through the center of Birmingham.
WHAT IS WAITING FOR YOU AT THE END? DI Stone soon finds himself at the center of an investigation spiraling out of control, threatening to spill blood in his personal life.

Good gritty police hunt drama
Good intro to DI Stone, squarely in the gritty cop drama genre. The story builds well to an exciting chase finale, while maintaining the questions as to the protagonist to the end.

Brilliant narration from Charles Robert Fox, who brings out the thrill and suspense.
This is a fast paced crime thriller and Mike Stone, is the lead detective. Who finds himself investigating a series of murders. As the investigation continues Mike soon realises his personal life and the murders are connected. He knows he must find and stop the killer before someone is murdered.
The twists will keep you listening to the very end.

Police procedures.
Enjoyable easy to listen to story once you get used to the accent. Keeps you on the edge of your seats just enough to keep your attention. Very good characters. Well read. I would recommend this to anyone who is into this genre.

Great story
What a brilliant book! I heard the audiobook version and I really enjoyed it. So much so that I went and checked if the second book of the series was available in kindle unlimited and added it to my library. “To die for” kept my attention throughout and didn’t want to take a break from it. It’s full of action and detective Mike Stone is a well built character. Some chapters are more graphic than others but this is essential to the story. Also, I couldn’t tell how the side story of the boy was relevant to the detective’s story, but it was explained in the end and all made sense.
Also, I loved the narrator’s accent! I did find it a bit distracting during the first chapter, but then I got used to it and then couldn’t imagine this book without it.

Superb.
This is an excellent first audio book from Colin Ward. It is well written and down to earth policing. The characters are well developed and believable. It is a little gory in places as the bodies pile up. The sub story about the boy is intriguing as a second thread to the telling but all comes together at the end. A really good listen and it kept this listener hooked. Charles Robert Fox's narration was excellent with plenty of different voices for the characters and plenty of emotion making it a must listen. Highly Recommended.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review.
