Wer kennt sie nicht, die Geschichte der Jungfernfahrt der Titanic? Auf der Fahrt von Southampton nach New York kollidierte die Titanic am 14. April 1912 etwa 300 Seemeilen südöstlich von Neufundland seitlich mit einem Eisberg und sank ca. drei Stunden später. Obwohl für die Evakuierung mehr als zwei Stunden Zeit zur Verfügung standen, kamen 1514 der über 2200 an Bord befindlichen Personen ums Leben - hauptsächlich wegen der unzureichenden Zahl an Rettungsbooten und der Unerfahrenheit der Besatzung im Umgang mit diesen.

Dieses Hörspiel erzählt diese Geschichte eindrucksvoll nach. Josef Pelz von Felinau (1895-1978) war Schriftsteller, Schauspieler, Drehbuch- und Hörspielautor. Seine Hörspiele Vincent von Gogh aus dem Jahr 1951 und Otto, O-der Heide aus dem Jahr 1955 sind ebenfalls in der SWRedition erschienen. Regie: Karl Peter Biltz, Musik: Karl Sczuka.
