About this listen

Tommy Phan is a successful detective novelist living the American dream in Southern California. One evening he comes home to find a small rag doll on his doorstep. It’s a simple doll, covered entirely in white cloth, with crossed black stitches for the eyes and mouth, and another pair forming an X over the heart. Curious, he brings it inside.

That night Tommy hears an odd popping sound and looks up to see the stitches breaking over the doll’s heart. And in minutes the fabric of Tommy Phan’s reality will be torn apart. Something terrifying emerges from the pristine white cloth, something that will follow Tommy wherever he goes. Something that he can’t destroy. It wants Tommy’s life, and he doesn’t know why. He has only one ally, a beautiful, strangely intuitive waitress he meets by chance - or by a design far beyond his comprehension. He has too many questions, no answers, and very little time. Because the vicious and demonically clever doll has left this warning on Tommy’s computer screen: The deadline is dawn.

Love Dean Koontz books even the ones that, like Tick Tock, are on the “too bizarre” side. I particularly enjoyed the humour in this one. The Narrator was good, although I did find some of his pronunciation irritating. Most annoying was the way he sometimes said Tommy. One minute it was Tommy, the next it sounded more like Tomy (rhymes with boney).

Tick Tock…….

Wasn’t sure to begin with, found it too drawn out and I didn’t really like the main character but once Deliverance turned up the whole book took off, she’s a great character, would love to read/listen to more with this character.
I did figure out what was going on pretty early on but it was still good

slow to start but developed nicely

Really enjoyed the story. I listen to this before bed but I kept extending my listening time to hear more.

I really enjoy Koontz imagination for this story and loved the character Deliverance and Tommy's mother.
Unfortunately, it was a little slow in places mainly because Koontz puts so much detail into his stories.

Entertaining listen

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. As always well written. Love a few twists and turns. Keeps me on my toes.

As expected a great story

I love Dean Koontz books but my god, this was awful. It's longwinded to say the least. I struggled at the beginning quite a bit however managed to persevere. It did get slightly better but not enough to warrant finishing it. Avoid

Really struggled with this

I felt like this book would never end. I couldn’t get into it at all and at one point thought this might actually end me. If you never want to listen to another book again, try this

So very longwinded

i was enjoying the book up until we were introduced to the know-it-all character. She has a 'witty' quip for any moment. i stopped listening.
maybe I'll Google what happens in the end.
