This book was very unusual and very informative about the different cultures but I like it very much.
The narrator had a lovely voice which always helps, what was annoying was the long pause between chapters (I have never come across a narrator adapting this before.

An excellent story, beautifully written and an introduction to Indian culture which had been well prepared. A book which can be read again and again. Carolyn Pickles was an excellent choice to read the book, I found it difficult to close the book.

I don’t really see the point of this book. It didn’t really explore the nuances of mixed marriages, living in different cultures and the social mores of the post war world. Neither did it really show depth of the characters nor resolve issues in any informative way. I’d say, to sum up - behind every rather bad tempered father there is a successfully manipulative mother!
