About this listen

We all know the sounds of war, but what are the sounds of peace?

Conrad Clarke is about to get married. Could life get any better for the Lord Guardian of the North? The Codex Defanatus is sealed away, peace has been cemented in the Lakeland Particular, and as far as he knows, no one is out to get him. Time to relax...

If only.

In the corridors of power, the new Warden is launching her project of change, and not everyone is happy. Closer to home, Conrad has to deal with the entombed Spirit of the old Warden, and far away on the other side of the Pennines, magick is stirring.

Kathy Metcalfe hates her life at Beckthorpe Abbey, what with having to cook for all the recovering addicts, and she knows exactly how bad they are because she’s one herself. The only person at the Abbey who isn’t an addict is the oldest resident, Don Bell, and Don can’t speak.

And then one night, strange lights drift across the lawn, and suddenly Don is a man with a mission. A mission to be rescued, if only he can find a way to send a letter….

Not that Conrad has any clue about this. As far as he is concerned, getting to the church at all is going to be enough of a challenge, what with three gods insisting on wedding invitations and the mother and father of Hen and Stag parties to go first...

It’s been a long wait since Conrad’s last adventure--catch up with all the news from Mark Hayden’s best-selling King’s Watch universe and meet old friends again.

Follow Conrad, Mina, and the gang as they prepare for the wedding of the century.

Great

This is a great addition to the kings watch series. It is well paced and moves the story along whilst spreading more plot about. I can’t get enough of Conrad Clark

A captivating story of the Kings Watch

I have enjoyed all of Mark Hayden’s books, the stories and characters have kept me enthralled and entertained for many years. They have been a brilliant escape through ill heath and tough times. Third Eye is the latest instalment and I loved it, the rich characters are bought to life perfectly by the impeccable narration of Ciaran Saward who delivers each brilliant character their own perfect voice. Great book, I loved it, can’t wait for the next one.

Conrad gets married

Loved this book. It's a build of characters and fun the becomes serious. So much happening and bring so many stories together.

Wearisome

Over twenty chapters primarily concerned with a stag do and wedding was hard going. I stopped listening for days at a time which is unusual. It felt like an awful lot of filler and very little plot. A bit of a shame really.

Sooo boring and self indulgent, with few moments of interest…

Having, largely, enjoyed the previous books in the series, this one was a big disappointment. It did have its moments, but they were buried beneath long drawn out tracks, that were tedious, convoluted and confusing, before the self indulgence of the stag party and the wedding, which left me feeling really rather fed up with the characters and the series…

one of the most boring things I have ever listened too

the first 40 chapters of this book are easily one of the most boring thing I've ever listened too and is absolute filler. Everything of actual note could have been explained in less than one Chapter.

All the stag do and wedding stuff was so incredibly cringey and I stopped listening so many times but came back to enjoying the previous books and forcing my way through.

If you are deciding to listen to this book I reckon you could actually not listen to the first 40 chapters and still have a full picture of what happens in the chapters after.

Really hope the next book continues as this one ended.
