We now own all 4 collections of Zac Power - my boys are 6 and 8, Zac Power is 12. My eldest can easily read the print books in the library. They are still enjoying them.

Of the 4 collections this is the most outrageous. The basic plot is always the same. 12 year old Zac gets whisked out of school to go on dangerous and exciting missions, in a fantasy world where grown-ups are (generally) the bad guys and all the really cool people are kids. Zac has to pretend to be bad at everything at school in order to maintain his cover, but is in fact utterly awesome and fearless. With cool hair.

Having run out of plausible plots, these short stories are utterly, utterly bonkers. My boys favorite has Zac rescued from having to do an embarrassing singing solo (dressed as a tree) in the school play, and ending up driving a Formula One car to win the Grand Prix ... using skills he'd learnt playing Play Station. Well obviously.

The fact that he's 12 and therefore could not pass as an adult is totally ignored. Which is why I'd say good for the under 10's, over that and there are too many holes to suspend disbelief for long. Short stories, nicely produced, basic sound effects. Mild peril, some violence but Zac always wins. No-one ever seems to get hurt. Or need any sleep in fact.

Also REALLY annoying jingle and ad for Bolinda audio after each story. This will after a while drive you bonkers so fingers on the fast forward everybody...

Outrageous spy stories for the under 10's
