About this listen
The first in a brand-new cosy romantic series from the best-selling author of The Village Green Bookshop!
A heart-warming, feel-good novel full of friendship, family secrets and finding love where you least expect it....
When Rilla Clark’s long lost father dies, she leaves New England and heads to his cottage in the Scottish Highlands to sort out his affairs. Rilla's determined that her visit will be a fleeting one. The little village of Applemore holds a lot of memories for her, but looking back might just open up her heart, which she’s kept well-guarded until now.
Lachlan Fraser is less than delighted with his inheritance. He left the grand, crumbling Applemore House as soon as he could, and he can’t see why his three sisters love it so much. Gathered together at their family estate, the battle of wills over what to do with the house is just beginning when into their life walks Rilla, whom they haven’t seen for over 15 years....
Old friendships and long-hidden emotions are rekindled as the romance of a Highland winter works its magic - will Rilla and Lachlan discover that home isn’t a place, but a feeling?
Full of warmth and romance, this is the perfect cosy escape to curl up with, ideal for fans of Cathy Bramley, Holly Martin and Katie Fforde.

it was just a nice change from my usual murder mystery reads.
It was a nice cozy story,of course the ending was inevitable, but it didn't spoil it.

Good book
A great introduction for me to a new author. Set in a wonderful Scottish highland town with a fabulous cast of characters. I can’t wait for the next book now. The Audible narration was excellent.

Easy listening Christmas story
Romantic theme, it’s easy to predict the storyline and the outcome. However, still a very lighthearted easy listen for the Christmas/New Year season.

A lovely little story
I just finished this one last night and it was so good! It is not specifically a Christmas read but it is a wintery read. I liked the romance in this because it was over a few months, rather than insta-love. They are both still idiots, but it was a believable stupidity in both their cases. There were also cute stories with supporting characters that opened the way for the sequels but not so obvious that you know what is going to happen in their separate stories. It’s also a relatively short audiobook at only 6 hours and 41 minutes at normal speed so if you are looking for a last-minute quick cosy feeling, this is the audiobook for you!
