About this listen

The basilisks. Giant serpents from deep space. Their true name is unknown. Their homeworld is cloaked in shadow. But one thing is certain: They're killers. And they vow to kill us all.

We humans have only just returned to Earth. For centuries, we lived as refugees among the stars. Hated. Hunted. After a long war, after devastating losses, we began to resettle our world. Only to find it swarming with monsters.

The basilisks show us no mercy. They constrict our children like boas, shattering their bones. They devour our loved ones, digesting them alive and screaming. Their starships hammer our colonies, destroying all we've built.

They'll never stop. Not until we're all dead. But we did not survive so many hardships to give up now. Our hope still burns bright. We will fight the basilisks. We will defend our planet. We will win the war for Earth!

up until this book the series was entertaining enough to keep me listening, also it had a fresh take, so I could overlook its flaws, gimmics and sheer pompousness... but this camels back broke the moment using regular bathroom mirrors is considered a viable tactic to deflect warship beam weapons black to the enemy??? ok, if in tour universe regular mirrors and high power lasers work that way, why no one made their hulls with mirror coatings in the first place? why anyone use lasers? what the hell??? I just can't anymore... narration was good tour.

too goofy to continue

The previous instalments were quite well written
The story In principle is great, mankind fighting to reclaim their homeland, but oh my god, the dialogue from some of the characters has more cheese than Mickey Mouse’s fridge - I was wincing listening to it
Especially the Rowan character
Vomit inducing

Nice story but awful writing

Wow, this has taken what could have been a great series in to ridiculousness. Nevermind turning every alien bad guy into cliché Nazis. It's has taken what could have been good sci-fi into silly fantasy wrapped up in excessive gore. My advice would be to try and do something well rather than attending to include everything in a half-assed way. I just can't continue!

I just can't do this anymore!
