About this listen
The mesmerising new thriller from the highly-acclaimed author of Deity, featuring DI Brook piecing together an extraordinary series of crimes spanning half a century...
The Cold Case crime department of Derby Constabulary feels like a morgue to DI Damen Brook. As a maverick cop, his bosses think it's the best place for him. But Brook isn't going to go down without a fight.
Applying his instincts and razor sharp intelligence, he sees a pattern in a series of murders that seem to begin in 1963. How could a killer go undetected for so long? And why are his superiors so keen to drive him down blind alleys?
Brook delves deep into the past of both suspects and colleagues unsure where the hunt will lead him. What he does know for sure is that a significant date is approaching fast and the killer is certain to strike again...

Where does The Unquiet Grave rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
About in the middle. Have read one other Steven Dunne, Deity, which was also a good book.Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I regretfully have to say that although the *narration* it'self was very good, the painfully, over acted voices of the adult charcters and the twee and totally unbelievable voices used for the children, by the narrator, totally ruined a really good book. Some of the voices are almost WEIRD ..... \i think the reader was trying to impersonate Warren Clarke as 'Andy Dalziel' (and failing miserably.) My attention was more on how bonkers the voices were, rather than being able to concentrate fully on the story. Sorry.Good story, but OH - those voices!!!!! :-(

If you could sum up The Unquiet Grave in three words, what would they be?
character based, intriguingWhat did you like best about this story?
the main characters and their less than perfect livesWhich scene did you most enjoy?
the scene in the boss's office, where they began to lose it with each otherAny additional comments?
it needs a little more fill story on the explosive police characters, so they resolve issues rather than having too many lose threadsmy 1st Steven Dunne book, but not my last

About midway. I like crime stories but this was not particularly well written. What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Nothing special either way. What does Gareth Armstrong bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Well narrated. If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
I wouldn't make a film of this book. It would upset Sheltered Housing staff.Any additional comments?
I listened to this book aged 66 and many of the characters, younger than me were depicted as decrepit old people. Prescriptions are free for over 60s and Sheltered Housing wardens (now scheme managers) are professional managers and caring people .(Take it from me, until recently I was one). Also it was a bit hard to believe that almost everyone had murdered someone! Why is the main character at odds with his boss as in so many crime novels.Unresearched.
