I really liked the twists and turns in the story which was told with a lot of humour. I have read the books but this was even better.
The narrator was very good. Normally I listen with the sound turned to 1.05 or even 1.10 speed if the narrator puts on a I AM SPEAKING SLOWLY AND CLEARLY voice, but this guy spoke at a good pace.

Clever story

I loved the narrator in this book. They really brought it to life. This was recommended by TikTok, and I am so pleased I went for it. This book has a wonderful flow and great story telling. I find sometimes when these types of books describe fantasy kingdoms and gods, they can be confusing to follow, but not here. I listened to this gardening, and I couldn't stop listening. The story, with the activities in nature, was a perfect combination.

Wonderful book - Great ending

I keep going back and forth about this but I cannot deny that I was incredibly bored half the time. The other half I was wondering what about the story made me keep listening - until the ending when a lot of it made more sense. Still, I just didn't click with any of the characters, especially not for the first half of the book. The second half was definitely better but I'm glad I got through it. Currently listening to the 2nd book which is off to a much better start. Here's hoping!

Loved this!

It was recommended to me based on the ending, and I agree. The first 3 quarters were fairly pedestrian (though enjoyable enough), but the last quarter more than makes up for it.

The narration was decent, though I found the voice he does for the main character a bit annoying.

Enjoyable romp with a brilliant ending

I adore this book but found sections that when reading it were really gripping just merged into the story as a whole when listening. The narrator's tone is lovely but everything seems a bit monotone.

Wonderful story, something missing in the narratio

I wasn't sure what ti expect from this story - I really enjoyed it. Narrator had a voice that reminded me of Tom Hiddleston - which is a bonus

Lovely story well told

I loved everything about this book. Characters, plot, narration... it got me hooked up from beginning to end, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable read. The only problem is that it's too short! I'd been listening to a +90h trilogy so was surprised to finish The Thief so soon ha! Looking forward to listening to the next ones

Loved it

The narrator's rhythms and stresses felt all over the place, mumbling nasally and haltingly with odd pauses and inflections, he sounded thoroughly bored by it all, and soon so was I. I honestly have no idea if there's a good story hidden somewhere behind this auditory wet blanket, and now I have no desire to find out

indifferent narration
