First time reading this author's genre, and I'm transported back to society at the break of the SWW. Makes one think in the light of today's wars. .

The story is great, good historical background and likeable characters but slightly spoiled by the reader mispronouncing words - for example disreputable and sedan and two that stood out, plus using the wrong intonation. In spite of that, I really enjoyed the story and have bought book 2.

The story was disjointed in places and jumped about. The narration was monotone and lacking in any intonation or expression. Pleasant enough but I wouldn't bother with a follow up
