The murder weapon is a gun for stunning cattle, leading Detective Max Wolfe to a dusty corner of Scotland Yard’s Black Museum devoted to a killer who thirty years ago was known as the Slaughter Man. Editor reviews

The Slaughter Man is the breathtaking crime thriller audiobook written by best-selling author Tony Parsons and skillfully narrated by British actor Colin Mace. Deep inside Scotland Yard lies a room with evidence of a psychopathic killer who stalked through London 30 years earlier and was never caught. Now an entire family is found slaughtered in his old hunting ground, the youngest child kidnapped. Has he chosen the young child to be his apprentice, to carry on his killings now he’s too old to continue himself? A grotesquely engaging book that will start your heart racing. Available now from Audible.

Daft decisions by characters and a somewhat predictable arc, but made my walk to work a little less dull!

Ok.

Great storyline and narration. Once you start listening you can't stop. Max Wolfe has a big heart but is also fearless sometimes to his physical detriment. Some of the book is very graphic but still in the context of the storyline. Already downloaded the next in the series

Amazing

I have read this series out of order but that has not detracted from this marvellous series.

Colin Mace is the perfect narrator for this gritty London based crime series. Please audible do not cock it up by changing narrator for the future books.

Some of the subject matter makes unpleasant listening but I felt it was sensitively written despite being graphic.

Loving Max, Scout, Stan and mrs Murphy

kept us interested - even the violent bits - engrossed all the way home! narrator good but sometimes too quiet then very loud so volume control needed rather a lot.

enjoyed on a long journey in the car

This is one detective series I'll keep following. Characters are wonderful and the narrator has developed with each story. He is the perfect Max and scout. Not so bad with the American accent either.

Enjoying these novels tremendously.

Great popcorn book. Somewhat ott with the London clichés, however push through that and it's pretty enjoyable

This novel is a very gritty no holds barred crime thriller, which has you wanting more with every chapter. Colin Mace's voice is the perfect fit for a book based in and around our countrys capital . The descriptive informative explanations of the various departments and units of Britain's finest helps no end, not to mention explanations of the science behind post mortems and corpses . All of this incorporated in a fast paced crime investigation makes for a great listen. Already bought the other two in the series.

Loved it, fantastic listen

The story keeps you engaged and while the subject matter is disturbing, the plot is plausible.
