This is my third book from Wes Markin and i am thoroughly enjoying them, the storyline is great and are really well written. The narrator does a great job and makes it an easy listen.

Wes Markins writing gets better and better. DCI Michael Yorke and team really are at full stretch with this baffling case with all it's twists and turns. The narrator brings it all nicely to life as we, the listeners, are fully immersed in a roller coaster ride. Very enjoyable.

Another great tale in the series, great story line excellent narration, kept me hooked for the whole audio book. Wont spoil it with spoilers but suggest listening to this series in order as it makes more sense that way.
Really looking forward to more in the series (hopefully soon)

What a beginning! A wedding to never forget.
I heard the author read the beginning at a book event & I knew I had to read this book.
I was spoilt by getting it on audiobook & the narrator just gets the story across so well.
I’ve listened to the others and no disappointment in the stories or narration. Excellent set of stories & I’ll be getting the rest as well.

This is the third book in the Yorke franchise I've read so that alone should let you know they are definitely worth listening to. I feel the author always tries to give the stories a bit of a unique underlying theme which makes them really interesting. I'm also enjoying the min main characters and want to find out more about where their storylines are going.
Narration is also excellent.

I loved book one in this series, but this book was brilliant also. The beginning was dreadful and brilliant at the same time, and DCI Yorke is a great character!
As always Aubrey Parsons' narration was spot on.

This is an interesting installment in the life of DCI Yorke, it starts with his wedding, also with the wedding of another police officer, who fails to go through with the ceremony due to being deceased. All very intriguing.

Now the story revolves around a man called Christian Severance who has had a pretty dire time of it and , along with a couple of other unfortunates, has made the acquaintance of a rather dubious character who goes by the moniker of The Conduit.

It's original as far as revenge stories go, and I did very much enjoy this one. And I absolutely love the title.

Mr Parsons is good to listen to as always but still needs to pay some attention to his pronunciation.

Four and out for me I'm afraid. I just can't be bothered with this type of stuff..... madness, murder, mutilation, mayhem = boredom, balderdash, b*llocks (total) and brain turning to mush.

Plusses - ok the writing's not bad, there's an over-riding story arc concerning the main detective Michael Yorke, someone I feel like I've gotten to know a bit better over the course of a few books. I don't dislike him, I don't especially like him - indifference at best I suppose. He's a decent copper, he leads his team well, he inspires loyalty, most of the time and he gets results.

Pace is ok, the tension ramps up and there's an increasing urgency towards the climax of the book.

Minuses.... I really can't be arsed with serial killers. I don't doubt they exist but I'm unconvinced that they have all somehow gravitated to Salisbury in Wiltshire. I'd far rather read about an accidental murder, a by-product of a mugging gone wrong or a botched robbery or a love triangle.... anything but the cunning plan where murder follows murder, follows pointless murder, and all because little Johnny wet the bed and used to get locked in a cupboard as a boy, after doing so. Not here actually, but you get my drift.

Wes Markin has his fans and good luck to him and them. May they be very happy together, but deal me out.

Not the worst book ever, just one that bored me silly and which I couldn't wait to end. I had it on Audible so it did kind of help the work day go a bit quicker. And there's a bit of me that perversely needed to hear where it was all going to end up, the further the novel descended into farce and grotesque. I don't know if there's a yardstick for these types of books where if five people got murdered in the last one, the book might be twice as thrilling if you have ten die this time around? I didn't keep score though.

A Lesson in Crime, One Last Prayer For the Rays, The Repenting Serpent have all been previously enjoyed or endured - take your pick.
