About this listen

On an 18-year-old Harley, just off the lift from a major engine repair, the author sets off on a motorcycle ride along the nation’s busiest highways on the east coast of America, from the northeast to the Florida Keys. He details what he went through in preparation for the ride and shares the history of what he encounters along the way. During the ride, he encounters an abundance of Road construction, unruly drivers, motor homes and 18-wheelers. Odd sights, sounds and smells will accompany him along the way with a colorful cast of characters to keep him entertained on this 3000-mile journey.

A fantastic audiobook about the authors trip to Florida aboard Sugar (his Harley Davidson). I really enjoyed listening to this one. Recommended

The high level of audio production is the first thing I noticed, not surprising considering Ted is a musician. The narration too is flawless probably due to the experience gained as a podcast host. These two traits shine through as you listen to Ted talk.
I got some insights into the workings of what I consider to be new Harleys, prior to listening I only spoke Shovel and Pan. I loved the quotes between chapters, always very poignant.
Ted is the first to admit that if you want to go straight to the journey skip the first 10 chapters. However all journeys have a reason behind them and this his was an integral part of the tale.
I think one of the most shocking things I found in the book was how little paid leave Americans get from their employment and they consider it normal. One of the lowest in the world below Russia, India or China. So knowing that, I can see why a road trip like this has to be organised with regimental presession.
Teds humour keeps the listener alert, his observations are astute and his opinions are delivered with just the right amount of diplomacy.
If I had any criticism it’s that sometimes I wanted the story to move a little faster, but then I remembered he was on a Harley and was probably going as quick as he could.

Great Narration
