About this listen

Brought to you by Puffin.

The Red Pyramid: the first audiobook in Rick Riordan's The Kane Chronicles.

Percy Jackson fought Greek Gods. Now the Gods of Egypt are waking in the modern world...

'I GUESS IT STARTED THE NIGHT OUR DAD BLEW UP THE BRITISH MUSEUM . . .'

CARTER AND SADIE KANE'S dad is a brilliant Egyptologist with a secret plan that goes horribly wrong. An explosion shatters the ancient Rosetta stone and unleashes Set, the evil god of chaos . . .

Set imprisons Dr Kane in a golden coffin and Carter and Sadie must run for their lives. To save their dad, they embark on a terrifying quest from Cairo to Paris to the American South-west and discover the truth about their family's connection to the House of Life: an Egyptian temple of magic that has existed for thousands of years.

The pharaohs of ancient Egypt are far from dead and buried. And neither, unfortunately, are their gods . . .

Rick Riordan has now sold an incredible 55 million copies of his books worldwide

This story gives us an insight to the Egyptian way of life, plus the way they lived and what they believed in. Good story.

I got this book for the drive to school with my daughters. They couldn't wait for the journey to school each morning and it inspired them to visit the British Museum and both Cleopatra's needles.
Downloading the second part for the drive to school in the morning now. I enjoyed it too, great narration, hard act to follow. Fingers crossed.

100% Recommend engaging teenage listen

I didn't like the Voice because they were weird and sound like a adult instead of a teenager

My son(aged 10)and I was enthralled by this book from start to finish. We loved the Percy Jackson series and thought we'd try this series. I can say we were not disappointed. The detail of Egyptology, the adventures, the humour all combined in sheer fictional delight. I loved the way it was told by two characters as well. We invested a lot into all the characters and felt that we were on the journey with them. I would definitely recommend this to 9 years and up. We can't wait for the next book.

Gripping!

Can't wait to finish this series too! Loved Percy Jackson more just because I'm more into Greek Methodology however I really liked this too! I'm about to start the next book in the series :) also I liked the combination of having 2 readers, reading for both Carter and Sadie.

Loved it!

The kids loved it, but 13 hours of the narrators' voices was a bit grating.
