Gripping lead character who it's almost impossible not to empathise with even as he makes self destructive choices in a personal struggle against racism and classism. Set on a backdrop of war and intrigue, where the obstacles he faces are more often due to the biases and predjudices of his peers and contempories than the actual enemy his people are at war with.

After listening to the 5 Red Rising books, I needed a story and narrator to match the epic and dark sci-fi tale - I was not disappointed with this and looking forward to the sequel.

The start put me off a little in that I felt it went from relentless to a little slow, but by the gods once it gets going shortly after that it's a RIDE! One of the best narrator I've had the pleasure of listening to. He really made every character come to life and has a distinct voice and accent for each, even side characters! I can't wait for the sequel!
