About this listen

Jesus' life is a song that still resonates down through the ages.

His deeds and words speak with beauty and mystery, both comforting and confounding us. Who is this man? Over the course of his career, singer-songwriter Michael Card has explored the depths of Scripture by bringing together biblical study and the power of the imagination. Now he sheds light on the life of Jesus through lyrical reflections on the four Gospels. These 40 meditations lead us to a place where Jesus becomes real and we can hear him with both hearts and minds. Listen again to the life of the Nazarene. And discover anew the music of Christ in your soul.

Engaging Jesus at the level of the imagination

One of the great joys when attending a Michael Card concert is when he sets out the thinking behind the songs, as parts of the lyrics that had hitherto passed you by suddenly come to life and you get further insight into what the Bible has to teach us.

This audiobook contains 40 such experiences. Each chapter starts with Michael reading the lyrics, followed by Michael explaining the thinking behind the words of the songs from the albums which accompanied his books on the four gospels, before the chapter ends with the song. Listening to each chapter prompts you to re-read the relevant passage in the gospel, while you have Michael's music fill your Spirt. These devotions truly feed both mind, heart and soul, leading us into deeper encounters with Jesus, the only one who is worthy of our songs.

A perfect Christmas present for anyone, pointing us to the source of true hope after a challenging year, knowing that "He was unlike any other man/And yet so much like me"

simply excellent

Retelling the gospel through song and a rich biblical insight, this is Michael Card at his best. Very short and easily digestible chapters, it is accessible to children and scholars alike, but like most of the apostles, Michael often communicates more than he knows. This could be reread and relistened to over and over and benefit obtained after each interaction with the text.
