About this listen
Since the beginning of the 20th century, cancer rates have increased exponentially - now affecting almost 50 percent of the American population. Conventional treatment continues to rely on chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation to attack cancer cells. Yet research has repeatedly shown that 95 percent of cancer cases are directly linked to diet and lifestyle. The Metabolic Approach to Cancer is the audiobook we have been waiting for - it offers an innovative, metabolic-focused nutrition protocol that actually works.
Naturopathic integrative oncologist and cancer survivor Dr. Nasha Winters and nutrition therapist Jess Higgins Kelley have identified the 10 key elements of a person’s “terrain” (think of it as a topographical map of our body) that are crucial to preventing and managing cancer. Each of the terrain 10 elements - including epigenetics, the microbiome, the immune system, toxin exposures, and blood-sugar balance - is illuminated as it relates to the cancer process, then given a heavily researched and tested, nontoxic and metabolic, focused nutrition prescription.
The metabolic theory of cancer - that cancer is fueled by high-carbohydrate diets, not “bad” genetics - was introduced by Nobel Prize-laureate and scientist Otto Warburg in 1931. It has been largely disregarded by conventional oncology ever since. But this theory is resurging as a result of research showing incredible clinical outcomes when cancer cells are deprived of their primary fuel source (glucose).

A must read cancer book
A must buy for anyone interested in cancer prevention and cure. There is so much useful information that can be adopted straight away. The information is delivered in a way that the average person can understand and the narration is excellent. I also decided to buy this book in hardback as I feel the information is so important. Don’t hesitate, I think every open minded person should have a copy of this book. It shows that mainstream medicine is not the be all and end all with cancer. I found this a very empowering book.

Cancer Avoider
I’ve been interested in health and nutrition for some years now, but not thinking about the big C at all. Until one of my friends died just after her 50th birthday and 2 more in their 70’s had been sent home to die by their oncologists. There are not so many titles on cancer but this is one of the best. Well explained and detailed enough to cover hundreds of things that contribute to cancer, but also emphasis on the basics that can make the most difference.
Not surprisingly it also overlaps with all the science on longevity, diabetes, obesity etc. All the advice you follow from this book will benefit you, your family and friends.
PS. My friend died from Sepsis not cancer, after the doctors had taken a flamethrower to her immune system.

The Definitive Guide for regaining health
I found my way to this book after a stage3 cancer diagnosis. I had been blinkered to anything about cancer before, but this book has been transformative. After reading it, nothing seems the same (while trying to not become one of those horrible health freaks I am helping to alter the lifestyle of my family and friends). I've lost around 30lbs (2 stone) so far, due to the lifestyle changes I've made while reading the book and will never be going back. Several chapters were so shocking to me that I became irate that this information is not disseminated to all school-age children. I recommend this book to anyone that has the slightest interest in health, not just cancer. I refer to it over and over and I bought the hardcover as well as the audiobook. I can't gush enough about it. I can only express my deep thanks to Dr. Winters, Jess Higgins Kelley and Suzie Althens. Kudos to all!!!

Outstanding wisdom - a powerful book by two inspirational women.
There are not enough words to convey my gratitude to you both for your powerful book.
You have made a significant impact on my journey to fighting the oesophagus cancer I have recently been diagnosed with. I will be eternally grateful for everything I have learnt and I’m now applying from your book. I bought a hard copy, and have also been listening to it whilst out walking and gardening.
My recent diagnosis came like a violent earthquake, shaking every core element in my body and soul. After overcoming the shock, I decided to take control of my situation. Ignoring the advice given to me by the medical establishment to eat as much sugar, carbs and ice cream, I went on a journey to find the truth.
I have been telling everyone who wants to know about your book. It holds so much wisdom backed with evidence. It’s a powerhouse.
I will treasure it, and continue to listen to it - and read it over and over again - and course, continue to keep applying it to my life.
Thank you so much.
Eternally grateful.

Nonsense
Apparently I need to avoid refined grains, any grains at all, fruit, milk, tampons, talc, pyjamas, nail polish, bubble bath, alcohol, smoking, fabric softener, non organic anything, artificial light, vaccines and chemo.
I do not recommend this book at all. It contains some science, and then takes huge leaps into the world of nonsense to back up their approach of avoiding toxins and eating a ketogenic diet to cure and/or avoid cancer risks.
It skates dangerously close to suggesting if only you’d eaten better you wouldn’t have cancer.
I made it to chapter 6 and when they started on toxins in vaccines I gave up.
