I was going to return this book after a few chapters but I persisted with it. Far too saccharine for me in places. It could have been so much better as the story was quite good.

Just ok

Slow start but I stuck with it. I think the narrator was the biggest problem

Made worse by the Narrator

Brilliant story with lots of twists and turns. Would recommend to anyone who loves a mystery.

Great Book

Nearly lost me at the beginning as felt just a day in my life, great story once it got going!

Length of back story

Overall I liked the story, but the frequent repition of phrases like 'cocktail me up', especially when referring to wine (not cocktails) was cringe-worthy. I'm normally a big Susan Lewis fan, but in places this felt quite forced. Hopefully just a blip and the next will be back on track.

Not up to her usual standard.

I would recommend this to anyone who wanted a non challenging listen.
This was a bit bland and and average .. The ending was all too a little convenient.

Okay

Good crime plot and great suspense through the novel that kept me listening, but REVOLTING depiction of class relations, with the lower classes practically thanking wealthy older man for sleeping with their vulnerable teenage daughter - also gender roles and relations all a bit 1950s, though it is set now; felt a bit sickened and depressed by it at the end, and wish I hadn’t allowed myself to be hooked by the plot.

Intriguing crime but

Another wonderful book

I struggling with the first few chapters but decided to carry on. I found the story very long winded and could have been condensed into fewer chapters. I normally love Susan Lewis books but have to admit I found this one disappointing .

Disappointing read

Murder mystery, easy listening and plot includes some up to date themes. The unforseen consequences of DNA testing for example. I did not guess the twist in the tale though it was perhaps a bit unrealistic. One of those books that changes time, back and forth, at the beginning especially, when setting the scene. Seemed very disjointed at first as a result ,and the contrast between the regional and upper class accents was distracting and too extreme in my opinion. However, an enjoyable easy listen overall and a different plot idea.

Nice easy listen
