About this listen

This is novel is a dark terrifying fairy tail.

After some trouble-making degenerates squatting on some farmland belonging to a kind peaceful farming couple decide to cut down the famous Sycamore tree of Sycamore Gap when receiving an eviction notice, they unleash an ancient avenging spirit of nature upon themselves, and will, hopefully, meet a ghastly end as punishment for their crimes.

Although based on the real life cutting down of our beloved tree, it is mostly fictional with only references to the true events. Featuring a foreword by Kevin Costner, star of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves that featured the tree of Sycamore Gap.

Timothy Goodfellow,The Legend of the Sycamore Man, Although only 63 minutes long this story has enough blood and gore to fill a full length novel, definitely not for anyone with a weak stomach. A brilliant listen it is well written and moves along at a breathless pace, telling the story of revenge exacted by the tree itself after it's criminal felling in September 2023. A mixture of fact but mostly fiction it is a truly excellent story. peter McGiffen's narration is outstanding and the use of special effects/voice changing is spot on and adds to the whole atmosphere created by the book. Can't recommend highly enough. I really hope there will be more stories in this series.

The Legend of the Sycamore is a topical, modern Horror short story that gives nods to both gorey modern slasher flicks and British folklore figures like the Green Man.

The fact that is based on true events gives it a certain edge. The felling of the great Sycamore tree in the Gap even spurred Hollywood Legend Kevin Costner to add his condemnation in the foreword!

The short story is engaging, gruesome and gory in parts. The narration carried the story well to its conclusion. 5☆
