About this listen
A simple case of a missing sister. Or is it? When Ian Skair is invited to an ancient castle perched on a rocky promontory of the Angus coast, he expects to find a routine missing person case. Little does he know, the Laird of Drumlychtoun and his family have more secrets and black sheep than Ian could have ever anticipated. As Ian uncovers secrets and intrigues, thefts and legends, he finds himself and the family in a dangerous situation. Can he reunite the laird with his sister and discover the truth behind her disappearance? Or will the family's secrets be too much for them to handle?

Very enjoyable.
A clever story with interesting, well written characters and an engaging mystery, very enjoyable. I liked Ian, he is a top investigator, and Lottie is a delightful addition to the story. The narration by Charles Robert Fox is first-class, I loved his Scottish accent! A totally worthwhile listen.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Entertaining!
I enjoyed this intriguing story which I received as an audiobook. Charles Robert Fox’s narration added to the entertainment with his Scottish accent enhancing the book’s setting in Scotland. PI Ian Skair takes on a new case when the local Laird asks for Ian’s help. The Laird’s sister has been a stranger for over 50 years, whereabouts unknown, and an heirloom ring is missing. The story is more complex than it first appears. There’s plenty of family secrets and mixed intent. Recommend. Look forward to reading/listening to more in the series.

Brilliant Scots narration! (Great story, too)
I adored listening to this! The narrator is excellent and the Scots voice made for a very immersive listen.
Plus, I really enjoyed the story too. The plot is multi-layered with well-rounded characters I loved getting to know. Iain Skair seems a bit uncertain of his abilities to take on a 'proper' case, despite launching himself as a private detective, but he's smart, endearing, and kind, which get him a long way in this fun and twisty Scottish mystery. This is a mostly gentle story in that it has no murder - a refreshing change from many in this genre. I also loved the setting, and found it easy to imagine myself in the various locations - Iain takes us to several Scottish locations from beach to city, many of which I've been to. The author has done her research well and the writing is accomplished and easy. I'll definitely be looking out for the next in series.

Crime but genteel.
Loved the narrator. At first I didn’t think I would listen to the end but it drew me in - so much so that I am buying the next in the series now.

Fantastic !
Thoroughly enjoyed this book . Great story line and characters.
Loved the accent of the reader , just took me right to the heart of
Scotland .
It was grand to not only follow the main theme , but get taken
along to the Highlands and some scenes of typical Scots hospitality.
Second book soon please !

Probably better read than heard
I tried very hard to deal with the comical accent of the narrator. I’m Scottish and love Scottish narrators…usually. I wonder if the enthusiastic reviews of the accent are from overseas fans of Outlander?
