Loved the book but the narrator and her ‘accents’ is very tedious but I would still recommend the book Alison Weir is a marvellous writer.

this was by far the best account of the fall of Anne Bolyne I've listened to so far . So intresting, really well narrated and informative, Absolutely brilliant.

So refreshing to hear the facts told instead of stories. Totally fascinating, I was enthralled from beginning to end.

Beautifully narrated book

I wish I hadn’t bought this. I did after the book by the same author on the Tudor and their courts, which was detailed, fascinating and narrated well, without embellishments. This, however is embellished with all sorts of little changes in intonation. When will publishers realise narration isn’t ‘acting’? I understand this is aimed at a middle market - but still, we are not children. You read to children in a particular way, there is no need to do this for adults. My low stars here are to make a point.

This is very poor history. Biased dubious sources are quoted at length without proper scrutiny. Henry is almost entirely let off the hook, as if he were an innocent bystander, while Cromwell takes all the blame for plotting her horrific downfall. Ann's scheming to become queen and her cruelty to Mary and Catherine of Aragon, is pretty much overlooked as this book prefers to quote ad nauseum those who thought she was entirely godly and virtuous. Ann was worldly and complex. Her end was a travesty. This book does not do any justice to the story.

I wish I hadn't bought this book. I found the narrator very difficult to listen to, it sounded as if she was reading a book to small children. The author seems to be extremely biased in her views, giving her own opinions rather than presenting facts. The story became so bogged down in irrelevant issues that I lost interest before the end and gave up. i will not be buying any more of her books.
