About this listen

War has broken out in the North. The Corrupt Lord of the Ice has invaded Norghana with a host from the Frozen Continent. Will the king and the Rangers manage to stop him, or will they die in the attempt?

Darthor is seeking to dethrone King Uthar. He is on his way to conquer Norghana and take the crown. He has invaded the kingdom and has a host from the Frozen Continent at his command; Wild Ones of the Ice, Snow Trolls, Albino Ogres, Semi-Giants, Tundra Dwellers, Arcanes of the Glaciers, and creatures unlike anything anybody has ever seen before.

Uthar gathers together his armies and prepares to repel him. But not all the Norghanian nobles are with the king. The Western League does not support him, and they want to regain the crown for the West, for the Olafstones.

Lasgol and his partners will have to overcome an arduous second year of instruction at the Camp if they want to become Rangers one day. The tests will be far harder and the effort required much greater. Rivalries will surface, but so will companionship and even love. He will find out that he does not know the whole truth about what happened to his parents or about his new friend Camu. New mysteries, which he will have to investigate and solve, will arise and drive him to confront life-and-death situations.

Will Lasgol and his friends survive the second year of training? Will they survive the war? Will he succeed in solving the mysteries that surround him? Will he find betrayal...and discover the true enemy?

I thought this book was really good. the only issue I had was that the narrator got some characters voices wrong in parts (wrong character voice for the person speaking) but that was very minor and not enough to spoiled the book

great listen, engaging story

I was a bit dubious about this one at the start but actually a really enjoyable trilogy

Actually very enjoyable

I love this series. Moving onto the third book now but each one so far has managed to tell it’s own great story, while leaving enough interesting threads to make me want to go straight to the next one.
I could see a great film / series on the back of these too!

Fantastic follow up book!

The story is good and cleverly written, good twists and keeps you hanging on every word but these miraculous ‘saves’ for the end of year are so ridiculous that it breaks the spell, felt a little lazy that it was basically the same as the end of the first book

Good story with clever writing

Grate second book in the series. This series needs to be read in order as there are threads that continue into the second story.

Lazgul and his friends are now in the second year of ranger training, the war however continues between the king and Darfor the ice mage. Lazgul and his friends will have to train hard if they want to survive there second year of training. In the second year the training is much harder and they start to learn more advanced skills.

Looking forward to future books.

I truly love this series!!
Although the first book definitely had a more structured plot-line this book had all the twists and turns I wasn’t expecting!! So excited to continue this series!!

3.5

enjoyable. the narration is good sometimes a little random. the story is good maybe not the most eloquent writing of conversations but you get the gist of whats being explained and it cuts out nonsensical blurb. over all in enjoying this books and buying the 3rd to listen. I'm excited to see how the characters mature... if they do? also if the writing stays the same or if the characters start to change with age and experience and how this happens.

interesting

Camu is my favourite character, adorable. The story is also very cute, I like the most the fact that is not too dark and the good ones win

Awesome

A great follow on from the previous story keeping within the framework of the adventure, now the concluding book to see what happens

A really enjoyable second novel in this excellent series. The entire book is well written and most creative, reminding me somewhat of " The Lord of the Rings " trilogy. Really looking forward to the next episode.

Again, an excellent narrator.

Enjoyable.
