About this listen
From USA Today bestselling author Holly Renee comes the second book in the scorching romantasy series with enthralling secrets, impassioned enemies, and luring tension.
Verena was the lost princess of Marmoris, the very thing we had spent our entire lives looking for, and I had let her go.
The lingering taste of her mixed with the deep ache in my chest over her betrayal haunted my days and nights. I knew she was hiding something, but her secrets were far more treacherous than I could have imagined. Though I wished my own betrayal hadn't been so bitter on my tongue.
Now, my dreams are haunted by the way her deep blue eyes looked up at me in shock when I revealed I knew her truth. The way I crave for her to look at me now as I hunt for her. Me, along with half of the rebellion.
If my father finds her before me, there is no telling what he will do to her. And even though she's the little traitor I always thought she was, I can't allow him to find her.
But his orders were clear. The princess is to be taken by the rebellion or she will be taken by the gods. I don't know which is worse.
She is the heir to our kingdom, the daughter of the cruel king who was responsible for my mother's death, and the key to winning our rebellion.
I vowed to my father that I would find her, the one person I wish I didn't have to.
Verena is the hunted heir. But more than anything, she is mine.
Narrated in duet style.

The series that got me back into reading
I can’t cope with the story! It’s so good, so much, and I neeed more. I’m not okey with how it’s ended, knowing I have to wait to know what happens next haha. The voice actors are really creating the part and I have found a lot of fan art to match characters to the voices for an even better experience. I thank you and so does my boyfriend

Lightly Entertaining
I don't understand why people hate on this sequel so much. I enjoyed myself throughout the journey. I'll say there isn't a lot of thickening and it's very centered on the two main characters but that wasn't a problem for me. It was short, concise and sweet. Overall a fairly easy listen.

This was another amazing dual narration audiobook. These two narrators both did such an excellent job!👏⭐️
Wow, this was so gripping. It picks up where book 1 concluded, which was a relief after that cliffhanger.
Daddy Dacre 🥵 may be having a lot regrets about how he treated Niya/Verena and deservedly so, especially when his dastardly Dad orders most of the rebels to go and capture her!👊😳 Wren is distraught at the thought.
Verena is in a desperate run for her life, from the rebellion as well as from her fathers guards. She isn't wise in the ways of hiding and travelling in the woods, but she's determined to escape.
Once our potential couple reconnect, after discoveries of betrayals, they have to try to find a way forward. This is especially hard while she's feeling so bitter about how he treated her.💔
Lines such as:
"Haunted by thoughts of what I should have done, of the way I should have worshipped you."
And
"Like salt in sea, you have become ingrained in every part of me, and I have been drowning in my regrets."
Begins to show Dacre's true, deep regret about his treatment of her.
The ending of this deliciously spicey, tension filled, and, at times, frightening instalment, was agonising!
I was left feeling a bit queasy and teary.🥺⭐️ Roll on book 3.🙏🏼

Damsel again
I was really hoping and expecting character development in the second book I am disappointed that the FMC remains a pawn and Damsel throughout the entire story.
