Wonderful story and performance
Tim Piggott-Smith’s reading is tremendous: the characters are well-defined, really believable and come alive in his narration.

Moving and Perceptive
A moving and perceptive story, beautifully read by Tim Piggott-Smith, who brings Graham Greene's writing perfectly to life. Graham Greene's ability to make us unexpectedly come to understand and empathise with his diverse range of characters is deeply moving.

Good story failed by reading
is an engaging story with interesting characters and a surprising ending. The almost comical reading spoils it. A mixture of speedy González and Cantinflas with poor representation of the accent by using Spanish from Spain when pronouncing "cion" like Nación. Very annoying.

So good to hear a professional actor reading this – the quality shines through and the performance is first rate.

Graham Greene does it best (as usual)
This is a book by a master storyteller and puts most of the other books in this genre (thrillers) in the shade. It is excellently crafted with no details left hanging. As well as an excellent story, it is a tale of human behaviour. Even though set in the past, it is as relevant today as it was at the time it was published - 1973. Tim Pigott-Smith's narration does the book the justice it deserves. 5 star everything!! Sadly now heading back to forgettable page turners...
