About this listen

Eric Reese is taking the cultural shock of hip-hop to unknown boundaries of music history, so educate yourself in the way of life that is defining young America now!

Hip-hop truth for the art and pulse of America!

This cultural brilliance of sound presented a voice and unique mind through the rough streets of America's largest conurbations going as far back as the 1920s. Sprung from the spirits of poverty, this inner-city culture quickly uncovered an amazing bunch of fresh young Black American forces of nature eager to express their own unique street accounts and contributed to a spirited new style of soul of Black Americana across major cities in the US.

Nowadays, hip-hop has reached the doorsteps of regions as distinct as Africa, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Jamaica, and just about everywhere. To picture how far rap music has come, I tell you its biography in a number of urban themes; all pointing to a surreal social evolution. You'll learn in this audiobook:

  • The differences between hip-hop and rap
  • The earliest records of music styles that greatly influenced hip-hop
  • What constitutes hip-hop and rap culture
  • Why underground hip-hop is its prominent feature
  • The merits of cultural theory and popular culture in rap
  • Greatest benchmarks in hip-hop history by year
  • Genres of rap music and hip-hop thoroughly explained
  • And much more

As this music legacy continues to expand its sway, know for sure it's here to stay.

The History of Hip Hop gives the popular culture listener the very insights of an indisputable force of rappers that guarantees to keep producing incredible music talents and exciting new classics for ages to come.

Hip-hop lives on! No need to hesitate. Click "Buy Now" and submerge yourself in the legacy of the world's cultural evolution!

Definitley Impressive Book

Any additional comments?

This book was my introduction to Hip Hop and I recommend it both to people who want to rip their hands into the music and for those that been around it for years.
The book covers Hip Hop from every possible angle, charting the cultural as well as political significance of the misunderstood and underappreciated genre. I found The History of Hip Hop one of the best books I ever had.

Informative listen

I enjoyed listening to the audio version of this book. Not my usual genre but thought I would give it a try. The narrator was fantastic. The book was very informative. I learned about the roots and history of hip hop. I teach music in a primary school. I will definitely use information from this book to aid my lessons. I would recommend this book 😊

Nice Audible Book

Any additional comments?

Vibe History of Hip Hop Culture is an accurate chronology of the hip hop movement and its impact on urban culture. The book documents the urban experience and gives a great entree for brand marketers considering using the genre to hype their products.

Interesting but weird narration

Interesting history of hip hop but weird narration. The narrator pauses in random places as if its a comma picked up by text to voice programmes, also has bad pronunciation on names.

Disappointing and sometimes factually questionable

The narration is absolutely diabolical. I suspect that it is a text to speech program.

The content of the book itself reads more like a compilation of lists from Wikipedia than anything that any coherent author would have put together.

If you are looking to immerse yourself in the history of hip-hop culture then this is not the book for you, it's smooths over many of the most important stages of the development of the culture.

If I could give this zero stars I would.
