Good book and I didn't guess the killer which makes a change. The narrator was excellent.

Sadly, I never really engaged with this book. The main character was going through a divorce and was obviously depressed, but she spent her days peering out of her window at the characters who lived near-by, and poking her nose into everybody's business. I just couldn't like her. In fact there wasn't a single character who I could say I actually liked.

Amber hasn't been in the neighbourhood for long but her marriage has broken up and she's alone in the large, luxurious house, amongst people who mostly despise her. It's known that she lusts after another woman's husband and this is hardly going to make her popular. When that woman is found dead, Amber immediately becomes a suspect and uses this as an excuse to be even more infuriating and intrusive.

I assumed that this was the author's first novel, but in fact she has written two mystery series, so I don't feel too bad about being honest. There was no subtlety to the plot and Amber was nosing around well before she had the valid reason of protecting herself from being a suspect.
The narration by Jennifer Blom was fine, a bit slow, but I could have sped it up if I'd chosen to.
2.5 stars.

This book was a quick, easy listen and is a fairly straightforward whodunnit. Amber lives alone, is going through a divorce and often watches her neighbours through her window. When one of her neighbours is murdered Amber becomes a suspect and sets out to find the murderer.

Although the plot was fairly basic it did hold my interest even though I found Amber incredibly annoying!

I listened to the Audible version of the book and enjoyed the relaxed narration of Jennifer Blom.

I enjoyed this book! Ambers life has crumbled since her husband filed for divorce.She does a lot of looking out the window at the neighbors lives.This will end up being a blessing and a curse for her. Jennifer Blom was a fine narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'
