Brillant story would have benefited from a narrator who could reflect the nigerianism in this more accurately, as this let the performance down.

Excellent Short Story

I got this book as it was included in the membership - and I'm delighted that I did.

the lightness of touch in building the characters, the differing pain and complexity of the girls was a joy to listen to - even with the darkness.

well done to the author and narrator

unexpected but highly recommend

The story is good and would have benefitted from someone who better understood/spoke in the dialect. It sounded all wrong and made it difficult to enjoy.

The Narrator Ruined It For Me

story of 2 young girls who met and formed a friendship that was intense and moving. Moral of the story: money cant buy happiness. Narrator was not nigerian and it showed in parts but she did a good job

Short engaging tale of friendship

This was a short and sweet story about two girls meeting at boarding school. A shy girl with a loving family but financially struggling meets a girl acting out to achieve her parent's attention and not just their money. Should Tola tell the truth when Kemi's actions go too far? I really liked the friendship between Tola and Kemi and the codependency they developed with each other. I also liked the underlying messages held within this novel, especially the question, 'should you lie for an easier life?'

the accent was completely wrong but the story was very very good and I related to it. overall, it was a great short story.

A Great story

I would have loved this story to be much longer, as the characters are great and I would like to know more about them. I could picture myself there with the girls as the story was being told.

A great short story

The narrator was all wrong. The accent dreadful it almost out me off listening. It sounded like a west indies lady trying to sound Nigerian. It ruined the story for me. Only finished it as I was invested in the story.

Terrible narrator

I'm sure the story is great, but I couldn't finish the audiobook. The narrator is an American voice actress who should never ever attempt a Nigerian accent again in her life. Completely ruined it for me.

Couldn't finish it due to the awful narrator
